Congratulations

Are in order for Liam Reddy. The game against New Zealand will be his 100th at National Level. His first match was in 2001 for Paramatta Power and his 100th will be for our very own Queensland Roar. On ya mate.

Yeah, that's fair.

Ok. I am seriously annoyed right now. They are calling Stuart McLaren the Roar captain!!
Yes I know that Chad is no longer in anybody at Roar camps' good books, but overlooking both McLaren and Packer (the two vice captains) to give the captaincy to someone who was barely even considered for the role when Bleiberg was there??
Somebody please tell me, what has Stuart McLaren got on Frank Farina. He obviously knows something and has blackmailed his way into the captains armband!!

Hell no, we won't go

What's all this about wanting to move Roar games from Suncorp stadium to Ballymore? If they are after more people, why would you move the games to a stadium half the size??

Gibson

In a turn around from all the controversy, Gibson may in fact play in tonights match. With Spase injuries perhaps ruling him out, Gibson will likely be called upon. A telling sign of this was the fact that he trained with the starting line up at last nights final training session.
He has also been placed by Farina in the first line up for the upcoming clash against Melbourne Victory.
But Gibson has been guilty of foul tackles in the past. Perhaps that's what he should be working on at training, tackling without getting a card.
But in an interesting turn, Farina refuses to name the captain for tonights match. I understand that it won't be Gibson, but why not say who it's going to be?
And shouldn't it automatically revert back to the vice-captains of the team, Josh McLoughan and Andy Packer (notice Stuart McLarens name isn't there!!) What's the deal with putting someone as captain for a game that isn't even one of the teams vice-captains?

Hyundai A-League . . . . a stepping stone for Socceroos?

A stepping stone. That wsa the plan anyway. So how are A-League players supposed to become Socceroos when they are not even eligable. I'm talking about all the A-League players that have come from overseas to play in our national league. We have, playing in the A-League with no hope of Socceroos selection, players from 12 different countries other than Australia :

Portugal
Switzerland
Columbia
Scotland
Netherlands
Germany
Ireland
Brazil
New Zealand
China
England
South Korea

These foreigners, numbering over 30 in total, are taking spots in our teams when deserving Australians, who could be future Socceroos are left out of the teams and thus, the spotlight.
How are these young talents supposed to be discovered when they aren't being allowed to play decent football where they can show off their skills?
Maybe, instead of each team being allowed one marquee player, perhaps they should only be allowed one international player. Sure that means the Roar would have to replace about half their players but hey, an Australian: Chris Grossman replaced a German: Marcus Wedau and look how well he served us.
I know that all the coaches and management are looking for is players that will help them lift the trophy at the end of the season, but they are forgetting the fact that the A-League is supposed to discover players, not teach them English.
Should an international player limit be enforced then maybe deserving Australians, and even future Socceroos would be able to take their first step onto the stone that is the A-League.

N.B. New Zealand was not counted in this. They currently have 6 Australian players on their team. But they also have 17 players who aren't Australian. Only 4 of these are from New Zealand.

No complaints for a while from me!!

You'll have to excuse the fact that I'm not commenting on the Roar too much at the moment, but being in Germany makes that extremely difficult. You'll have to keep me updated with how everyone is going as my family doesn't seem to be that good at that. Cheers

Let'sbe Frank

Did Miron Bleiberg know exactly what he was doing when he stepped down at this particular part of our season? After that cringe worthy display against New Zealand and several tough games ahead, including competition leaders Melbourne, was he lining Farina up to fail? Let's face it. If Miron had continued with his disasterous campaign through to the end of the season, Farina would have started next season with a clean slate. But with his beginning smack bang in the middle of the Roars downfall, he would perhaps not be the saviour that everyone was looking for. And that seems to be the way the cookie has crumbled. The Roar are continuing their poor form (if I wasn't such a massive fan I would start to look elsewhere for a favourite team) and Farina has not managed a Van Egmond.

Maybe there was more to Bleiberg than we give him credit for??
