Yeah, that's fair.

Ok. I am seriously annoyed right now. They are calling Stuart McLaren the Roar captain!!
Yes I know that Chad is no longer in anybody at Roar camps' good books, but overlooking both McLaren and Packer (the two vice captains) to give the captaincy to someone who was barely even considered for the role when Bleiberg was there??
Somebody please tell me, what has Stuart McLaren got on Frank Farina. He obviously knows something and has blackmailed his way into the captains armband!!

McLaren was a player/coach at the Brisbane strikers after Kossie. Farina might see something in McLaren because he was also player/coach at the same club.

As far as I know Frank is still based in Sydney, and perhaps he wanted to appoint a captain who has the qualities of a mentor to the players. I am biased against Chad, but I think McLaren is a smart move.

I know McLaren was a player/coach at Strikers, but that doesn't give him the supreme right to be captain.
I think I am the opposite. I am biased against McLaren. Not that I don't see the point in sacking Chad, but I always thought that McLoughan did a fine enough job.

Hi Jeccy

You asked for more on the press coverage of Chad and Frankies 'words'.

17 Dec CM (Sunday after CC match) page 98 headline: 'Gibson slams blame game' by Garry Legg. Gibson said. 'I've remained quiet and been inclined to get on with business, but I think at times I've pretty much been made a scapegoat. For reasons I can't explain, my name comes up when something negative happens and I feel I was left out to dry. I've stayed positive though and been professional about it because the important thing for me is the team.... hopefully I will get the chance to do that (contribute) in the latter rounds.'

On 20 Dec in a follow up page 75 CM article 'Farina shake-up for Gibson: Stop making excuses' - Frankie told Chad to 'get on with it... The easiest thing you can do is to throw your hands up in the air and blame others for your problems.... He was the face of a lot of their marketing adverts and he led the team. But things have changed this season. But things have changed this season. The team is different and I'd admit he hasn't had the best time with it all. But he just has to get on with it and keep working hard and keep training.'

In the January FourFourTwo Chad complains about Miron leaving the player of the match out the following week, and praises Frank and the new chance he brings.

Jeccy, I can't see what Chad is complaining about. He will not be able to win his spot back from the press. I saw him get sub-ed in the first home game and get a telling off from Miron 'Don't 'why me' to me'. Really Chad was dropped last year after a four week injury break he never returned to the run on squad. He was very tied to the A-League and Roar advertising and this has kept him in the spotlight.

McClaren also got a blast from the Roar CEO for his mistake that led to NZ goal no 2.
